Regular proofreading packages

When you’re only producing relatively short texts, it can be tempting to skip the final checking stage. This service is designed for people who put out short-form publications like newsletters, blog posts or client updates on a regular basis but still want that peace of mind you get from using a proofreader. Instead of paying on a job-by-job basis, I can proofread all your content each month for a fixed rate of around just £10 depending on how frequently you are publishing content and how long it is.

I am also a big believer in supporting my local Colchester community so offer a discount on all my services to anyone in the North Essex and South Suffolk area.

Classic proofreading

Whether you are about to launch a new website, have a major presentation on the horizon or have been beavering away on a book that you’re almost ready to share with the world, I am here to make sure that your written content is polished. After all that hard work, you want to showcase yourself in the best possible light, right? As well as checking all your spelling and grammar, I also keep an eye on consistency and clarity and fact check the finer details. Think of me as your friendly English teacher, here to help you make the best impression possible.

And if you use AI to help you write, then I can help too! We are all familiar with the time-saving benefits that AI offers, but it has its limits and is in no way error-free. As a human proofreader, I am on hand to save you from AI faux pas. I can also communicate with you throughout the entire process to make sure your words truly reflect who you are and what you want to say.

Academic proofreading

Having written my Master’s thesis in a language that was not my mother tongue, I understand the desire to make sure all your work is at the highest possible standard, even when you are tackling complex ideas in a language that is not your own. I offer proofreading services for students and teaching staff alike and have experience in a range of fields, including economics, business management, English and linguistics, technology and healthcare.

My background

Originally trained as a German>English translator, proofreading has played an important role in my professional life for the past 20 years. As well as proofreading English translations for my colleagues on a very regular basis, I have also proofread original English-language texts in a range of areas, including technical documents, marketing material, articles for academic journals, wellness studies, local government documents and winter sports.

I believe that my background in German gives me particular expertise as a proofreader because nothing helps you to understand your own language better than becoming fluent in another. However, to give my proofreading skills an extra polish, I recently completed a proofreading course with the College of Media and Publishing in the UK.

I am also a big bookworm, currently on a quest to read the top 100 books of the 21st century, which is taking me on quite the reading journey. At the time of writing this I am 100 pages into a 700-page monster about surveillance capitalism, so there is almost nothing I won’t read.

If you’d like to know anything else about my background or professional qualifications, please feel free to get in touch.
